What the rodeo reindeer is
It's a mechanical bucking reindeer - also known as Rodeo Rudolph, a bucking reindeer or a mechanical reindeer - that bucks and spins while you hold on and try to stay seated. Our operator runs the controls from a separate console, so they can keep it gentle for children and first-timers or turn it up for anyone who fancies their chances. A digital timer tracks every ride, which means you can run a leaderboard competition through the day.
The reindeer figure itself is moulded in brown with a white saddle pad, red collar and gold bell, yellow antlers and a Santa hat with white trim. The red nose lights up too, which tends to get people's attention before they've even seen it move. It mounts onto the same mechanical base as our rodeo bull, so the motion is the same - the only difference is the festive look.
It comes with a large circular inflatable surround that cushions any falls. We've run it in all sorts of venues - warehouses, nightclubs, shopping centres, marquees and car parks - and it tends to gather a crowd quickly because the spectacle of someone trying to stay on a bucking reindeer is hard to walk past.
We've been hiring out mechanical rides from our warehouse in Rotherham since 1999, five minutes from the M1, and we own and maintain the kit in-house rather than subbing it out. Every hire includes £5 million public liability insurance, with risk assessments and method statements emailed to you or your venue before the event.
