Four players each straddle a reindeer-headed hobby horse stick - colour-coded, one per lane - and bounce to race. The bouncing feeds through electronically to the tabletop display, where reindeer cutout figures move along a green-felt racecourse toward the FINISH line. The harder you go, the faster yours moves.
Rounds run fast and the game draws a crowd. People who aren't playing tend to end up watching and shouting before the first race is over, which is part of why it works well as a centrepiece at Christmas parties and after-dinner events rather than just a side activity. We've run it at corporate events, trade fairs, school Christmas parties and hotel party nights - it suits any indoor setting where you want something competitive that holds a room's attention.
A trained operator is included in the hire for up to three hours and manages all the game running. Safety mats are provided for the play area. The track display sits inside a white picket fence surround with full Reindeer Racing branding, and the 12ft x 8ft footprint fits into most function rooms without rearranging much.
You'll also see this game described as Racing Reindeer or the reindeer-themed version of the classic Gold Cup horse racing game. This is the hobby horse variant - if you want the roll-and-bowl Donkey Derby style, that's our Roll a Ball Reindeer Racing.
