Warmth for stands that sit outside

A gazebo heater - the same unit works as a parasol heater or marquee heater - is three halogen arms on an adjustable clamp that fits the centre pole of a pop-up gazebo, parasol or marquee, anything from 35 to 60mm across. Each arm runs at 650W, and the four-stage switch works them singly, in pairs or all together up to 1950W, so you're not running full heat on an autumn pitch that only needs one arm.

Infrared suits temporary spaces better than warm-air heaters do. The elements warm the people stood under them rather than the air itself, so the heat arrives the second the switch goes on, and opening a side panel or a marquee door doesn't throw it away. It runs on electricity rather than gas, so there are no bottles to site and no fumes under the canopy, which venue managers tend to prefer.

Most of ours go out through the colder months of the show calendar: outdoor exhibition stands and sampling pitches at winter trade shows, Christmas market stalls, evening brand activations, and the smoking and hospitality areas that venues need to keep usable when the temperature drops. The clamp fits the centre poles on our 3 x 3m and 3 x 4.5m black gazebos as well as most other pop-ups and parasols.

Heated marquees, not just gazebos

The bracket does gazebos, but the same heaters go along a marquee frame, spaced out at intervals so the warmth runs the length of the shelter instead of sitting at one end of it. Longer structures simply take more of them, and because each arm switches separately you can dial a rig back on a milder day.

Each heater runs off a standard 13-amp socket, arriving with a BS plug on a 1.5m cable and drawing 1950W with everything on. If the pitch has no mains, we can bring the power with it, from a battery generator for a couple of heaters up to diesel for an off-grid stand.

For the areas venues have to keep usable all year, they work over outdoor bars and seating and under our temporary smoking shelter. If the job runs into the evening, festoon lighting and our marquee lighting rig off the same frame, and the 2kW infrared heater with timer is the one to look at where you'd rather mount the heat on a wall or beam and leave it to a timer.

The arms fold down flat when the heater isn't in use, and nothing needs lighting or warming through before the first visitors arrive.

Our own kit, our own vans

Heating is usually the last thing on the kit list and the first thing visitors notice when it's missing, so the heaters tend to travel with a bigger booking rather than go out on their own. They're racked at our 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham, five minutes off the M1, alongside the gazebos and marquees they clamp to. We've been hiring event equipment since 1999, and around 95% of what you see on this site is kit we own and maintain ourselves. Every hire includes £5 million public liability insurance, with risk assessments and method statements emailed to you or your venue before the event.

The vans work the exhibition venues all winter, from NEC Birmingham and ExCeL London to Manchester Central, and the Christmas and winter fairs at Harrogate Convention Centre besides. Gazebo heater questions

Will the clamp fit our gazebo or marquee?

The adjustable bracket takes poles from 35 to 60mm across, which covers the centre poles on our own pop-up gazebos and most commercial gazebos, parasols and marquee frames. If your structure is something less standard, send us the pole diameter with your enquiry and we'll confirm before you book.

What power do they need on site?

Each heater runs off a standard 240v socket, arriving with a BS plug on a 1.5m cable and drawing 1950W with all three arms on, so one 13-amp socket per heater is the rule of thumb. Where there's no mains on the pitch we can supply the power too, from a battery generator for a couple of heaters to diesel for an off-grid stand.

Can they stay out in the rain?

They're IP34 rated and built to sit outdoors under cover, with iron-coated aluminium mesh guarding the elements. They're pole-mounted heaters rather than freestanding ones, so they stay clamped to the gazebo, parasol or frame they're fitted to rather than standing in the open.

How many heaters will we need?

That depends on the shelter rather than the headcount. One heater with all three arms on generally does a standard pop-up gazebo, and longer marquees take several spaced along the frame, which is how we rig them. Tell us what you're trying to keep warm and the right number goes into the quote.
