Interactive Basketball Arcade Hire

The interactive basketball is a UNIS Elite machine, built by Universal Space - the same kind of commercial unit you'd find in an amusement arcade, rather than a home toy. It goes by a few other names depending on who's asking: a basketball shootout, a pop-a-shot machine, or just an arcade basketball game.

What sets it apart from an old-fashioned pop-a-shot is the backboard. Instead of a flat board, there's a 49" LCD screen behind the hoop that runs the scoring, the countdown and the animations, so the game has a bit more to it. You shoot the small basketballs up the wood-effect lane into a real hoop, against the clock, and the screen keeps your score and a target to chase. The balls feed back down the lane through the red cord guards on either side, which keeps a queue moving without anyone chasing stray balls across the floor.

The hoop height adjusts electronically, so it drops down for children and goes back up for adults, and there are two modes - a standard scoring game and a fitness mode - selected from the touch-screen panel at the player's end. It runs off a 13A mains socket, and we can bring a generator if there's no power where you want it.

Where It Works Well

  • Exhibition Stands and Trade Shows

  • Freshers Fairs and University Events

  • Corporate Fun Days and Team Building

  • Product Launches and Brand Activations

  • Christmas and Seasonal Parties

  • Charity Fundraisers

How It Plays

A round runs against the clock. The 49" screen shows a target score on one side and the player's running score on the other, with a timer counting down in the middle, so people can see how they're doing and there's an obvious number to beat. Fastest or highest score across the day is the simplest way to run a competition on a stand - your team notes the totals, or we can supply a leaderboard to keep track without tying anyone up.

It's a single-hoop game, so one person plays at a time while a queue builds, which is what you want on a busy exhibition stand or a freshers fair where throughput matters more than two-player head-to-heads. The unit is on wheels and folds down for transport, so we can get it in and out of most venues without much fuss.

Branding

The front of the cabinet takes a full printed wrap, which is the part most people see as they walk past. We branded it end to end for Rundles at one of their exhibition stands - a full front wrap in their colours with their logo and strapline, plus matching leaderboard signage - so the machine read as part of the stand build rather than a piece of hire kit dropped in the corner. All of that is done in-house, from artwork through to taking it off again afterwards. There's more on the branding service here.

The wrap options run from a printed bottom board at £95 (we keep this for you free of charge for future events, though it stays ours), through scoreboard branding from £29, to a full front wrap at £69. Send us your artwork or a brief and we'll come back with options.

We own and maintain the machine in-house from our 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham, five minutes from the A1, M1 and M18, so there's no third-party supplier between you and the equipment if anything needs sorting on the day. We deliver across the UK, including to NEC Birmingham, ExCeL London, Manchester Central and Olympia London. Tell us your venue and dates and we'll confirm the delivery cost with the quote.

The basketball is one of over 600 products across our catalogue, so if you're putting together a whole stand or fun day - other exhibition games, arcade games, staging, generators - we can supply it on one booking with one point of contact. We're a repeat supplier for corporate clients including Amazon. As Anais, who books for Amazon's events, put it: "We have the best time at our events with some of the games and it makes planning events so much easier. We have used them for years here at Amazon events."

Common Questions

How is this different from a normal pop-a-shot basketball machine?

The backboard is a 49" LCD screen rather than a flat board, so it runs the scoring, the countdown and the animations on screen. The hoop height also adjusts electronically, and there's a fitness mode as well as the standard scoring game, which a basic pop-a-shot won't have.

Can the hoop be lowered for children?

Yes. The hoop height adjusts electronically, so it drops down for younger players and goes back up for adults. That's why it suits mixed crowds at fun days and family events as well as adult exhibition stands.

Is it one player or two, and how does scoring work?

It's a single-hoop game, so one person plays at a time against the clock while a queue forms. The screen shows a target score to chase and the player's running total, and fastest or highest score is the simplest way to run a competition across the day. We can supply a leaderboard to keep track.

Related Products

The interactive basketball pairs naturally with the other sports and arcade games below for a games corner or a sports-themed stand. The double-shot basketball game gives you a two-player version, and the air hockey and table tennis work well alongside it. If you'd like a hand picking a combination, get in touch and we'll suggest options.
