Table Tennis Table Hire

We hire full-size Butterfly table tennis tables - the same brand you'd find in a club or a leisure centre, not a folding garden-centre job. The playing surface is a proper 9ft by 5ft (that's regulation size, 274cm by 152.5cm), and it's the outdoor version with a weatherproof top, so a bit of rain at a summer fun day isn't the end of the world.

Each table comes with a net, two bats and a handful of balls, and it rolls on wheels so you can push it into position once it's in the room. It doesn't need any power at all, which is handy if you're on a stand at the NEC or in a marquee without a handy socket.

Sometimes called a ping pong table, which is the same thing - "table tennis" is what the sport's governing body called it back in 1926, and "ping pong" is the older name that stuck around. Either way, people know what it is and they tend to stop and have a go.

Where it works

Table tennis is one of those hires that fills a gap without taking over an event. It doesn't need a supervisor standing over it, it doesn't need power, and it gives people something to do for ten or fifteen minutes while they wait for something else or while the speeches are happening. We've hired them out for all sorts:

It works because most people can pick up a bat and have a rally within a minute, and because a game is short enough that there's always someone waiting to have a go next. If you're running a tournament across a day, it fills the between-times nicely.

The table itself is standard full-size. You'll want at least 3ft of clearance on each end and 2ft at the sides for people to swing a bat, so a 13ft x 8ft space is the practical minimum. For a tournament setup with spectators standing around, a bit more room helps.

The table folds in half and rolls on its wheels, so getting it through a standard doorway is fine. It won't go up a flight of stairs or around a particularly tight corridor, so check your venue access with us before booking if the room is upstairs or awkwardly positioned.

Suitable for adults and children. The weatherproof top means it can sit outside for a day without damage, though we'd recommend a cover or a shaded spot if it's going to be there for more than one event.

The hire price covers a 24-hour period, and longer hires are available for a small additional charge. Putting several items on one delivery brings the per-item cost down, so contact us for a quote if you're building a wider package.

We've been hiring out event games since 1999, and we own and maintain our table tennis tables in our 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham, five minutes from the A1, M1 and M18. That puts most of the country within reach - South and West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, the East Midlands and the North East are all straightforward, and we deliver regularly to London, Birmingham and major exhibition venues including NEC Birmingham, ExCeL London and SEC Glasgow. If you're putting together a sports games or exhibition games package, one delivery covers the lot.

Common Questions

Does the table tennis table need power?

No. The table itself is just a surface - there's nothing electronic in it, so it doesn't need a socket or a generator. That's one of the reasons it works well on exhibition stands and in marquees where power isn't always handy.

Will it fit through a doorway and upstairs?

The table folds in half and rolls on its wheels, so it goes through a standard doorway without trouble. It won't go up a flight of stairs though, and very tight corridors can be a problem. If your room is upstairs or in a tricky spot, get in touch before booking and we'll check whether it'll fit.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes. These are the outdoor version of the Butterfly table, with a weatherproof playing surface and powder-coated steel frame. They can sit outside for a day's event without issue, though we'd suggest a cover or some shade if it's going to be left out overnight.
