Buzz Wire Steady Hand Game Hire

Beat the Buzzer is a tabletop buzz wire steady hand game - also called a Mega Wire, Wire Loop Game, Beat the Buzz Wire, or Beat the Bleep depending on who you ask. The white console sits on a standard trestle table with wire courses rising out of the top. The player picks up the wand from the "START HERE" position and navigates it along the looping wire without making contact. Touch the wire and the buzzer sounds, the lights flash, and you go back to the beginning.

Each round runs for 90 seconds with 3 lives, so even someone who touches on the first attempt still gets at least two more tries before time runs out. For a competition across the day, fastest clean run is the simplest format - your team notes the time, the leaderboard looks after itself. The optional magnetic leaderboard makes that easy to manage without tying up a member of your team.

We've taken this to exhibition stands including SentinelOne's cybersecurity show, to Hallam Students Union's elections campaign at Sheffield Hallam University, and to a Wavin industry expo where it went on a purpose-built branded cabinet with "Fastest Time Wins" on the front. It draws people in for similar reasons to Strike a Light or Spot On Challenge - the game is self-explanatory and the rounds are short enough to keep a queue moving without much effort from your team.

How It Works

The player picks up the wand from the "START HERE" position. The 90-second countdown runs on the digital timer built into the console. The aim is to navigate the metal wand from one end of the wire course to the other without touching the wire - when the wand makes contact, the buzzer sounds and the lights flash, which counts as one life lost, and the player returns to the start of the course.

Three lives and a 90-second window means rounds are short enough to keep a queue moving at busy events, while still giving each player more than one real attempt. For a competition format across the day, fastest complete time is the cleanest scoring mechanic - your team notes the time, the leaderboard looks after itself. The optional magnetic leaderboard (available at additional cost) gives people somewhere to check their standing.

Branding

The front panel takes a full-colour printed vinyl wrap, handled in-house from artwork through to removal after the event. We've printed it for Hallam Students Union's elections campaign at Sheffield Hallam, in blue and white for Wavin, and in a range of corporate colour schemes for other exhibition stand clients. For activations where the game needs to be part of a larger stand build, we can also construct a purpose-built branded cabinet that the unit drops into - as with the Wavin installation.
