Whack a Zombie Hire

Whack a Zombie is the Halloween version of our two-player electronic Whack a Mole - the same bench-top cabinet, re-skinned with cartoon zombies and a graveyard backboard. Two players stand side by side, take a foam hammer each, and bash the targets as they light up at random. A central digital scoreboard tracks both players and a countdown runs the round down, so it sorts out a winner without anyone having to keep score by hand.

It's about as quick to explain as a game gets, which is the whole point of it at a busy event. People walk past, see two of their mates hammering away under the cobwebs, and join the queue without needing the rules. Rounds are short, so the queue keeps moving and you get a fair few plays through in an hour.

You'll also see this sort of thing listed as a digital whack-a-mole zombie game or a zombie smash game, but it's the same game underneath whatever it's badged as.

How It Plays

Both players get a foam hammer. The targets across the deck light up one at a time, at random, and you score by hitting the lit one before it goes dark and the next one comes up. The round is timed - a short sprint, usually set somewhere around 30 to 45 seconds, and the timer can be adjusted to suit how fast you want the queue to turn over. Whoever's whacked the most by the buzzer wins, and the scoreboard shows both totals so there's no arguing about it.

It works because it's daft and physical and over in seconds. There's nothing to learn and nothing to read, and the foam hammers mean it's fine for kids as well as for adults having a go in fancy dress. For a longer event you can run it as a rolling leaderboard, chalking the top scores up on a board so people come back to try to knock themselves off the top of it.

Branding the Cabinet

The panels can be wrapped with your own artwork instead of the standard zombie graphics - printed, fitted and taken off again by our in-house team. If you want it tied to a campaign or a stand design rather than the off-the-shelf Halloween look, send us the brief and we'll come back with options and a price. There's more on how that works on our branding page.

Ideal For

  • Halloween Parties

  • Office Halloween Events

  • University and Freshers Nights

  • Corporate Fun Days

  • Exhibition Stands

  • Charity Fundraisers

  • School Events

  • Birthday Parties

Space and Power

It's a bench-top unit, so it sits on a sturdy table or its own low stand rather than taking up a pitch of its own. Allow roughly 1.2m by 1.5m of floor for the cabinet, give or take, plus room for two players to stand at the front and a few onlookers behind them.

Power: one standard 13A mains socket.

Suitability

  • Indoors on any surface
  • Outdoors under cover, such as a gazebo or marquee
  • Adults
  • Children

Best kept out of the rain, as it's a mains-powered electronic unit.

What's Included

  • Delivery, setup and collection by our own team in our own vehicles
  • Two foam hammers and a full briefing for your staff
  • Telephone support throughout the event
  • £5 million public liability insurance as standard
  • Risk assessments and method statements emailed to you or your venue before the event

Optional: a trained attendant to run the game hands-free all day, and custom branding on the panels - get in touch for either.

Delivery charges and minimum order values may apply depending on hire duration and location. Putting it on the same delivery as other items keeps the per-item cost down, so it's worth bundling if you're hiring more than one thing.

Delivery

We deliver from our 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham, five minutes from the A1, M1 and M18. We've been hiring out interactive games like this since 1999, on exhibition stands at NEC Birmingham, ExCeL London and Manchester Central, and the same unit goes out to corporate Halloween parties, university nights and school events across the UK. If you're putting together a Halloween or carnival games package, one delivery covers everything.

We own and maintain 95% of what we hire out in-house, so there's no third-party supplier between you and the kit when something needs sorting on the day.
