Black mechanical rodeo bull in a red-and-black inflatable safety bed

Rodeo Bull / Bucking Bronco Hire

Hire starts at £395 plus VAT and includes a trained operator and digital timing for exhibitions, corporate events and brand activations.

A timed attraction people can follow from the aisle

The rodeo bull bucks and spins while one of our operators controls the ride from a separate console. It is also called a bucking bronco, mechanical bull, mechanical rodeo bull or bull riding simulator, but the format is the same: one rider, a visible time and an inflatable bed around the machine.

That makes it useful on a trade-show floor. Someone walking past can see what is happening without an explanation, the timer gives each turn a clear result, and the running leaderboard gives visitors a reason to check back later. We can keep it to a straightforward best-time competition or arrange heats, a final and certificates for the leading riders if you tell us the format beforehand.

A normal three-hour session gets through roughly 40 to 60 rides. That is an estimate rather than a hard throughput figure - a session with longer rides naturally moves more slowly - but it gives an exhibition organiser something sensible to use when planning a queue or staffing the stand.

Anyone riding must be aged 10 or over and at least 1.1m tall. The operator sets the pace for the person riding, so first-timers and experienced riders do not get treated as though they are the same.

Where the rodeo bull works

  • Exhibitions and Trade Shows

The moving ride is easy to pick out across a hall, and the visible timer gives people in the aisle a competition they can understand.

  • Brand Activations and Promotions

Run a campaign leaderboard, daily final or certificate challenge while our operator looks after the machine and each rider.

  • Corporate Parties

A timed best ride gives departments or office teams a simple competition without asking your own staff to operate the attraction.

  • Conference After-Parties

It runs indoors on a hard floor where the venue can provide an 18ft square area, 10ft headroom and the required mains power.

  • Freshers and Student Events

One-at-a-time rounds give the waiting crowd something to watch, with each rider's time shown on the digital display.

  • Wild West Themes

Pair it with the Saloon Bar Shoot-Out and carnival equipment when the western theme needs to carry across more than one attraction.

For promotions, build the activity around the score

The useful bit for a campaign is not just putting somebody on a mechanical bull. It is having a result your stand team can use. We can run the timer and record a leaderboard while your people handle the conversation, badge scan or prize, rather than asking a brand ambassador to learn the controls as well.

We've had event mascots riding it and supplied the bull for a branded drinks promotion, so a campaign does not need a cowboy theme to make sense of it. The bull body is not a handy flat panel for campaign artwork; send us the stand design and our in-house branding team can look at the practical surfaces around the challenge, such as signage, barriers or a leaderboard, before anything is promised or printed.

If you need fixed heats, a final at a particular time or certificates for the best scores, put that in the brief. It is easier to plan the competition alongside the stand schedule than to make it up once the hall opens.

Size and site requirements

Floor Space Height
Unit size: 15ft x 15ft 9ft
Required space: 18ft x 18ft (about 5.5m x 5.5m) 10ft
  • Minimum access width: 3ft 3in (1m)
  • Power: 2x standard 13A sockets within 25m
  • Capacity: one rider at a time
  • Rider minimum: age 10 and 1.1m tall
  • Suitable indoors on artificial grass or a hard floor
  • Suitable outdoors on a level grass site

Outdoor hard standing needs checking from the site details because the exact surface and level matter. Send a photo or plan with the enquiry and we can confirm whether the proposed spot works.

What the hire includes

  • Mechanical rodeo bull and motion base
  • Inflatable safety bed and electric inflator
  • Large digital ride timer
  • Trained operator for the full session
  • Entrance safety matting
  • Power cables
  • Delivery, setup and collection by our own team
  • £5 million public liability insurance
  • Indemnity to principal cover while our staff are supplied
  • Risk assessment, method statement and current certificates for the venue

The starting price is £395 plus VAT for the normal three-hour session. Longer bookings are £50 plus VAT for each extra hour. Delivery charges and location-dependent minimum order values may apply, so the final figure depends on the venue and the rest of the booking.

A staffed hire, not a machine left on your stand

One of our trained operators stays with the bull for the session, sets the ride for each person and looks after the timer. We deliver it, build it, run it and take it away in our own vehicles, which leaves your stand team to deal with visitors rather than the machinery.

The current black-and-red inflatable bed is made by Pongo and is inspected annually. Its present inspection report records conformity with EN14960:2019 at the time it was tested, and we can send the current certificate to your venue with the risk assessment, method statement and insurance documents before the event.

We've been running event equipment since 1999 and keep the bull in our 25,000 sq ft Rotherham warehouse, five minutes from the A1, M1 and M18. It is owned and maintained in-house, so there is not another hire firm sitting between you and the equipment if the venue asks a technical question.

Exhibition venue delivery

We regularly deliver rodeo bulls to NEC Birmingham and ExCeL London. Our wider venue work also takes us to Manchester Central, ACC Liverpool, Olympia London and Harrogate Convention Centre. A large hall does not automatically mean the bull will fit on a particular stand, so send the usable floor area, clear height and loading access rather than the venue name on its own.

If the bull is one part of a larger booking, we can bring exhibition games, brand activation games and event equipment on the same delivery, with one contact and one invoice for the package.

What clients say

Tracy Gavin hired the rodeo bull for a Wild West birthday and said: "Tom and Kane were excellent. Arrived in plenty of time and were really friendly. Highly recommend this company and would definitely use again."

Jacqui Oxley booked the bucking bronco with a bouncy castle and assault course for a Year 6 leavers party. She said: "They arrived on time and got on with setting up, Graham, Kane and Tom were absolutely brilliant with the children and were a pleasure to deal with and are a credit to the company."

Rodeo bull questions

Will the rodeo bull fit on an exhibition stand at the NEC or ExCeL?

It needs a clear operating area of 18ft x 18ft (about 5.5m square), 10ft of clear headroom and a 3ft 3in access route. It also needs two standard 13A sockets within 25m. Those requirements work in many hall and activation spaces, but send the stand plan before booking so we can check the usable area rather than relying on the overall stand size.

How does a rodeo bull leaderboard work?

The large digital display times each ride and our operator records the results. You can run one best-time table across the session, or ask us to plan heats, a final and certificates for the leading riders. Tell us which format you want before the event so it can fit around seminar, prize-giving or stand schedules.

Who can ride this bucking bronco?

It takes one rider at a time. Riders must be at least 10 years old and 1.1m tall, and the operator adjusts the ride to the person using it. If the audience includes younger children, mention their ages when you enquire and we can suggest a different ride rather than putting them on the full rodeo bull.

Is this the same ride as the rodeo reindeer, pumpkin or Christmas pudding?

They are themed alternatives in the same multi-ride range. The bull is the standard year-round version; the rodeo reindeer and rodeo Christmas pudding suit winter events, while the rodeo pumpkin is the Halloween attachment. Availability can vary, so tell us the theme and date when you ask for a quote.
