Hook A Duck stall with a "prize every time" banner at an outdoor community event

Hook A Duck Stall Hire

Hire From £495.

The traditional side-stall classic

Hook a Duck is about as traditional as fairground games get. Yellow ducks float around a water trough, you're handed a rod with a hook on the end, and you lift one out. On our stall there's a prize every time, so nobody goes away with nothing. It's sometimes called a duck pond, and it's one of those side stalls that's been turning up at fetes and fun days for generations.

We run it as a staffed stall. One of our team sets it up and stays to run it, usually for around four hours, and the hire comes with 25 prizes to hand out. If you're expecting a big turnout we can bring extra swag along at £1.75 plus VAT a toy, so you don't run dry halfway through the afternoon.

We own and stock the stall ourselves rather than sourcing it in, so it arrives on our own van with our own staff. We've been hiring out side stalls like this from Sheffield since 1999.

The festive version

For the run-up to Christmas we've a festive set of ducks - snowmen in top hats and red scarves, reindeer with little antlers and red noses, penguins and Santa ducks. The stall dresses up to match, and we've set it up with a giant nutcracker standing alongside it at festive events. If you want it for a December do, mention it when you get in touch and we'll bring the festive ducks.

Part of a row of stalls

Hook a Duck rarely goes out on its own. It works best in a line of side stalls, so it sits well next to the roller bowler, plinko, the prize wheel and the tombola drum, or as part of our grand carnival fun fair stalls setup. Have a look at the full carnival games range - and with 600+ items across the catalogue, if you're putting a whole fun day together we can quote for several stalls, staffing and delivery in one.

Sophie hired a few of the carnival games for an event and said:

We hired a number of pieces of carnival games from DB Entertainment and wow! It was incredible, great value for money, super friendly and punctual staff.

Venues we deliver to

From our 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham, five minutes from the A1, M1 and M18, we deliver side stalls across South and West Yorkshire and nationwide. It's a regular at showground events and outdoor fun days, and we deliver to venues like Penistone Showground, Elsecar Heritage Centre, Newark Showground and the Yorkshire Event Centre. We own and maintain the kit ourselves - around 95% of what we hire out is our own in-house stock - so there's no third-party supplier between you and the stall on the day.
