Sound Engineer Hire

When you're running an event with a stage, a dedicated sound engineer means you don't have to worry about who's going to balance the microphones or turn the music down between speakers. They arrive with the PA, set the levels, run the desk during the show, and pack everything down afterwards - so you're not handing a microphone to someone and hoping for the best.

Our engineers work with our own PA systems, which means they know the kit inside out. The setup scales from a single 800W speaker with a couple of wireless mics for a small presentation, right up to a 6K line-array rig with stage monitors and full monitor mix for a ten-piece band on our mobile trailer stage. We've sent engineers to community galas in Maltby, corporate presentations at the NEC Birmingham, and charity walks across South Yorkshire - give or take any setup where people need to be heard clearly.

The price is based on hiring the front-of-house PA from us, which is how we keep everything in one system and one pair of hands. We've been hiring out stage and sound equipment from our warehouse in Rotherham since 1999, and we own the lot outright - it's all maintained and checked in-house before it goes out.

What the Engineer Does on the Day

The engineer arrives ahead of the event with the PA system, mixing desk, microphones and any monitors you've booked. They set everything up, run a sound check, and manage the desk throughout - adjusting levels between speakers, bands, or anyone else who needs a microphone. After the event they pack down and clear the site.

As standard the setup includes wired and wireless microphones, an eight-channel mixing desk, and the main speakers and monitors. If your speaker needs to move around - say, a presenter walking the floor at a conference - we can swap one of the handheld wireless mics for a head-worn or lapel unit instead.

What's Included

  • Delivery, setup and installation by our team
  • Sound engineer on site for the duration of the event
  • PA system, mixing desk, wired and wireless microphones
  • Telephone support throughout the event
  • Collection and breakdown after the event
  • £5 million public liability insurance as standard
  • Indemnity to principal cover, meaning our insurance extends to protect your organisation while our engineer is on site
  • Risk assessments and method statements emailed to you or your venue before the event

Delivery charges may apply depending on location and the size of the PA rig. Wireless mics are included as standard, though Peter - who hired a PA for his wedding - flagged that he hadn't realised they were available, so do ask when you book if you need them.

Event Sound in the Real World

Steven Singleton has worked with us for a number of years now and said we're "good VFM and deliver a professional stage sound and lighting package for community events." Darren Dawson hired a stage, sound equipment and heaters for a motivational speaker addressing his whole company, and told us the team "turned up well in advance, set everything up and made sure I was happy before leaving site." Another Steven, who booked a large outdoor mobile stage with lights and PA, said simply: "The team that attended our event are stars!"
