Sega Rally 2 Twin Sit Down

This is the original twin sit-down Sega Rally 2 Championship cabinet - two cockpits bolted side by side and linked together, so two people race the same course head-to-head rather than each driving a separate game on their own. Sega built it for arcades in 1998 on their Model 3 board, as the follow-up to the 1994 Sega Rally Championship, and it has stayed a recognisable bit of kit ever since.

Each side has its own seat, a steering wheel and pedals, and its own screen, and the cabinet wears the red-and-white rally livery with the Castrol and Michelin branding it left the factory with. You'll also see it listed as Sega Rally Championship 2 or the Sega Rally 2 Twin Type, and it's the same twin arcade racing simulator.

It has been a fixture on our exhibition stands for years. A two-player driving machine pulls a crowd on a trade show floor in a way a static display rarely does, and it gives your team a reason to start a conversation with whoever is waiting for a go.

The Game Itself

Players pick a car and a course and drive against each other across loose surfaces. The game runs four rally stages - Desert, Mountain, Snowy and Riviera - set from Novice through to Expert, so a first-timer and a regular can both find a level that suits them. You steer with the wheel and confirm your choices with the pedal, and a full run takes only a couple of minutes, which keeps the queue moving on a busy stand.

The car list is a proper late-1990s rally grid: the Toyota Corolla WRC, the Lancia Delta, the Subaru Impreza, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, the Ford Escort and the Toyota Celica, with the Lancia Stratos tucked away as a hidden unlock. It's a two-player rally driving simulator that people who grew up with arcades recognise straight away, which is part of why it works as well at a corporate evening as it does at a freshers fair.

We've been hiring out exhibition games from our 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham since 1999, five minutes from the A1, M1 and M18. We cover South and West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and the East Midlands as a matter of course, and deliver nationwide to the bigger exhibition venues, including the NEC Birmingham, ExCeL London and Manchester Central.
