Traditional Fairground Design
Square-tower helter skelter with Victorian-style decor and red-and-white striped slide - a proper fairground attraction, not an inflatable.

Hire From £1595.
The square-tower helter skelter is a traditional fairground ride - not an inflatable - with an internal staircase climbing 22ft to the top and a red-and-white striped slide wrapping around the outside of the tower on the way back down. It's the sort of ride that stops people in their tracks when they walk onto a field or into an event space, partly because it's familiar from every fairground they've ever been to, and partly because, at 22ft, it stands above nearly everything else around it.
We own two helter skelters - this square one and the inflatable round version. They look different, ride differently, and suit different spaces, even though they're similar in height. The square tower has a more structural, fairground feel to it, and the slide path is a different shape around the outside - a bit tighter, a bit more of a scramble. If you've booked from us before and had the inflatable, this one isn't the same ride in a different colour.
Exhibition Game Hire has been supplying traditional fairground attractions to events, exhibitions and brand activations for over 20 years, at venues including the NEC Birmingham, ExCeL London, Manchester Central, and Leeds First Direct Arena. We handle the loading schedules, the access planning and the paperwork that venues ask for. Risk assessments and method statements come as standard - emailed to you or your venue before the event, not produced on the day.
The ride is operated by our trained staff for the full duration of hire, so your team don't need to manage it. Each rider climbs the internal staircase, collects a mat at the top and slides down the outside chute. Throughput is steady - it's a continuous ride, not a batch-loaded one - and it works well alongside side stalls, catering and other fairground attractions where you're building a whole funfair set rather than booking a single ride.
Built as Part of a Full Funfair
The square helter skelter is a proper centrepiece, but it's rarely the only thing you'll want on the day. It works well alongside a Runaway Train, Chair-O-Planes, Hook-a-Duck side stall and a few carnival games to fill out the site. We carry 600+ products across 68 categories, from generators and marquees to candy floss machines and custom branding, so a multi-item package goes out on one delivery, with one contact and one invoice.

Riders climb the internal staircase inside the tower to reach the top, 22ft up - high enough to get a proper view of the event site around them. From there, they grab a mat and take the slide down the outside chute, which spirals around the square tower in a tighter path than the round version.
The whole thing is built around a continuous cycle: one rider heads down while the next climbs up. It keeps moving, there's no batching or waiting for a group to clear, so queues stay manageable even when the event is busy. Children and adults can both ride - smaller children go with a parent or an older sibling.
It's a traditional fairground ride in the proper sense. The decor is Victorian-style, the slide is painted in red and white, and the structure has a presence that feels different from an inflatable. If you've booked fairground rides before, you'll know what we mean - there's a weight and scale to it.

The square helter skelter is maintained to the same safety standards as every attraction in our fleet:
If your venue or council needs specific documentation ahead of the event - certificates, inspection reports, insurance schedules - we can provide them. It's a routine part of the booking process and there's no extra charge.
Delivery charges and minimum order values may apply depending on hire duration and location. Discounts are available for multi-item packages and longer-term hire - contact us for a quote.
They're different rides. The square-tower helter skelter is a traditional fairground structure with an internal staircase inside a central tower - it's not an inflatable. The round version is an inflatable with a different slide path around the outside and works indoors on hard floors or artificial grass. Both are 22ft tall with similar footprints, but they look different, ride differently and suit different types of event. The square version is the one people tend to book when they want a proper fairground centrepiece; the inflatable is popular for exhibition halls and indoor activations where a traditional ride would be impractical.
The unit itself is 27.6ft x 22.1ft (about 8.4m x 6.7m). You'll need 30ft x 30ft of clear, level ground around it - this gives enough room for the safety fencing, the matting area at the base of the slide, and for staff to move around safely. We also need adequate vehicle access to the setup area for delivery and positioning. If you're unsure whether your site has enough room, send us the dimensions or a site plan and we'll tell you straight.
Yes - we own both and can supply them to the same event or to different locations on the same day. It's useful if you're running a large site with multiple activity zones, or if you're doing consecutive-day bookings across two venues and want a helter skelter at each. The rides look different enough that having both at one event doesn't feel like duplication - they serve different parts of a site.
We regularly deliver to major exhibition venues, outdoor event sites, town centres and private grounds across the UK. Recent venues include NEC Birmingham, ExCeL London, Manchester Central, Coventry Arena, ICC Birmingham, Leeds First Direct Arena, and Telford International Centre. We're based in a 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham, five minutes from the A1, M1 and M18. For larger packages we offer Europe-wide delivery.
Not sure if your venue has hosted a ride like this before? Drop us the venue name and we'll tell you if we've worked there - chances are we have.
