What EventCity was
EventCity opened on Barton Dock Road in TraffordCity in 2011 and was for a decade the largest event venue in the North of England, with four halls giving around 28,000 square metres of floor between them. It ran consumer shows, exhibitions, gala dinners and conferences, and it took a lot of the big-footprint work that would not fit elsewhere in Greater Manchester.
A replacement venue had been planned nearby on the old Soccerdome site and was approved, but those plans were withdrawn at the same time the closure was announced. There is no direct successor.
Where to look instead
For exhibition and conference work in the city, Manchester Central on Windmill Street is the obvious replacement. Its column-free main hall takes a bigger stand build than most halls of its age allow, and we have supplied it for over twenty years. Across in Liverpool, ACC Liverpool on the Kings Dock waterfront covers the same kind of brief with an arena attached.
