The inflatable zorb track with its striped start arch and two transparent zorb balls on the course

Zorbs with Inflatable Surround Hire

Giant transparent human hamster balls you climb inside and steer round an inflatable track by leaning your weight. Two race at a time, children and adults both ride, and it runs on indoor hard floors as well as grass. Hire from £895 plus VAT.

How the Zorbs Work

Each zorb is a transparent ball with a double skin - two layers with a cushion of air between them - grab straps on the inside and an entrance hatch on the side. You climb in, the attendant seals you in, and from then on the ball goes where your weight goes. It takes most people a lap of the track to get the hang of steering, and after that it comes down to who can hold their line, because the surround is wide enough to race two balls side by side.

Children and adults both ride, and the rounds tend to turn over quickly enough that a queue keeps moving. A transparent sphere rolling across a hall with someone inside it also pulls a crowd without any help, which is the half of zorbing that matters most when you are hiring it onto a busy floor.

On an Exhibition Floor

Most big inflatables need grass. This one doesn't: the track runs on indoor hard floors and indoor artificial grass, so a sports hall, a feature area at ExCeL London or a hall at the NEC all work. The balls are clear, so the riders are visible from across the floor, and the red and black track reads from a distance too.

The surround takes artwork as well - our in-house branding service can put your colours on the track - and between the branded surround and the riders inside the balls there is plenty for the event photographer to work with.

The kit needs floor space, so it suits feature areas and open floors. If the plan is a 3m shell scheme, the stand-sized games are a better fit for the room.

Where It Gets Hired

  • Exhibition floors and trade shows

It runs on a hard indoor floor, so it can anchor a feature area inside the hall instead of living out in the car park.

  • Brand activations and launches

A brandable surround, riders you can actually see through the balls, and short races that keep visitors cycling through. Ask about the artwork when you enquire.

  • Corporate fun days and away days

Racing is head to head and easy to understand from the sidelines, so it works as one station on a multi-activity field without needing explaining.

  • Team building and competitions

Our attendant can run it as heats that build to a final, with a leaderboard across the afternoon, which suits an It's-a-Knockout-style timetable.

  • Scouts and Guides camps

We have taken the zorbs to jamboree-scale camps, Mega Moot in Nottinghamshire included, where around 4,000 were on site.

  • Family fun days and fetes

On grass it sits alongside the rest of the inflatable range, and children and adults ride the same balls so families queue together.

We have been hiring games out of a 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham since 1999, five minutes off the M1, A1 and M18. Around 95% of the kit we list is owned and maintained in-house, surround and balls included, and the inflatable is inspected and tested annually. Deliveries to the NEC Birmingham, Manchester Central and the Telford International Centre are regular runs, and larger packages go nationwide.

At Mega Moot, the Scouts and Guides camp in Nottinghamshire with around 4,000 people on site, the zorbs went out among a full field of activity kit. June Bingham said afterwards: "from initial enquiry to staff on the event they could not have been more helpful and professional."

Where It Runs

Surfaces
Indoors: hard floors or artificial grass
Outdoors: grass
Not suitable: tarmac, concrete, hard standing, wood chip, or a mix of grass and hard standing

What we are really booking against is a level sports hall or a flat stretch of grass. If you are not sure whether your venue's floor or field fits that, send us the details with your enquiry and we will confirm before you commit.

What It Needs

  • A level area big enough for the track - the exact footprint varies with the layout, so tell us the space and we will confirm it fits
  • A power socket within reach of the pitch for the electric blower, which comes with the kit
  • A petrol generator at extra cost covers venues with no mains nearby
  • A trained attendant if you want the zorbs run hands-free, and safety mats wherever they are needed

Zorb Hire Questions

What surfaces does the zorb track work on?

Indoors it runs on hard floors and on artificial grass. Outdoors it runs on grass. It does not run on tarmac, concrete, hard standing or wood chip, and not on a mix of grass and hard standing either, so a level sports hall or a flat field is the booking we are making.

How old do riders have to be?

Our activity rules set the minimum age at six. Children and adults both ride the same balls, and the attendant paces each ride to whoever is inside it.

How many people can race at once?

The surround is wide enough for two balls side by side, so racing is head to head. With a leaderboard running it keeps a queue of riders and spectators moving through an afternoon.

What if the venue has no power?

The electric blower that keeps the track inflated comes with the kit and needs a socket within reach of the pitch. If there is no mains nearby we can bring a petrol generator at extra cost - mention it when you enquire and we will quote it with the hire.

Pairs Well With

On a fun day or a camp the zorbs sit alongside the other big team games below. On an exhibition floor they work the feature area while the stand-sized games keep visitors busy on the stand itself. Send us the shape of the day and we will suggest a combination that fits the space.

Hire the Zorbs

Send the dates, the venue and whether the surface under the track will be a hard floor or grass, and how much clear space you have. We will come back with a quote, confirm the track fits, and price the generator if there is no power on site.
