Adult sumo suit with a black headpiece and red belt, standing on the blue and yellow crash mats

Adult Sumo Suits Hire

Two players climb into oversized padded sumo wrestling suits, strap on the helmets, and try to wrestle each other off the mat. Touch down with anything other than the soles of your feet and the bout is lost, and the padding takes the falls. The set needs a flat 15ft square and no power socket at all, so it goes up on exhibition floors and in hard-floored halls as easily as it does in a marquee. Hire from £124.17 plus VAT.

How a Bout Works

The suits are padded and stitched, sized for adults, with a headpiece in the style of a sumo topknot and a belt in red or blue so you can tell the two wrestlers apart. The job in the ring is to stay on your feet and get your opponent off theirs, and a bout ends the moment someone touches down with a hand, a knee or anything else that isn't a sole. The crash mats underneath look after the landings, so the falls that end each bout are the soft sort.

Because the rule is that simple, nobody needs much coaching before their first bout, and spectators can follow it from the back of the room, which helps on a busy stand.

On an Exhibition Floor

Most things that draw a crowd on a stand need a blower running all day and a socket to plug it into. The sumo suits need neither - the padding is stitched in, not blown up - so the whole kit is a 15ft square of mats and two suits, and it works in a shell-scheme hall at the NEC Birmingham or a feature area at ExCeL London without anyone having to find the venue electrician. The set is adults only, which happens to match most exhibition guest lists.

The suits take artwork for stands too: a branded back panel at £99, 12 branded buttons at £49, or both for £125, printed and fitted by our in-house branding team. Between the branded kit and the sight of two visitors wrestling in padded suits, the stand tends to collect an audience.

If the space is a 3m shell scheme instead of an open floor, the stand-sized games fit the room better and we can say which after a quick look at the floorplan.

Where It Gets Booked

  • Exhibition halls and feature areas

A 15ft square of mats with no power draw, so it can sit in a hall or feature area without anyone rearranging the electrics for it.

  • Brand activations and product launches

A branded back panel and buttons put your logo on the wrestlers themselves, and head to head bouts in front of a stand pull their own audience.

  • Corporate promotions and fun days

Head to head, adults only and easy to pick up, which suits a guest list made up of staff and customers.

  • Team building and competitions

Our attendant can run the same two suits as a ladder or knockout with a leaderboard, which stretches two suits across a whole afternoon of rounds.

  • Evening socials and award nights

The mats go down on a hotel floor or in a marquee once the conference day is done, and the suits carry on into the evening.

  • Shopping centre and venue promotions

The mats protect the floor underneath, the queue forms on its own, and the branding works from the sidelines while the bouts run.

What's Included

  • Two adult padded sumo wrestling suits with helmets, one red belt and one blue
  • Crash mats for the floor, plus the headpieces
  • Full £5 million public liability insurance as standard, with indemnity to principal cover when our staff are supplied
  • A trained attendant to run the bouts hands-free if you want one
  • Risk assessments and method statements emailed to you or your venue before the event
  • Delivered in our own vehicles and set up by our own team before guests arrive

Hire is from £124.17 plus VAT, and a minimum spend may apply depending on where the event is. Keeping the kit overnight is an extra £25 flat for everything on the booking. We can usually discount multiple items on the same delivery - contact us for a quote.

We have been hiring games out of a 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham since 1999, five minutes off the M1, A1 and M18, and around 95% of the kit we list is owned and maintained in-house, suits and mats included. The exhibition venues get several deliveries a week from us - the NEC Birmingham, Manchester Central and ExCeL London among them - and larger packages travel nationwide. Jennie Talbot hired the suits alongside other kit for an event and said afterwards: "The equipment was in great condition, everything was delivered and set up on time."

Where It Works

Surfaces
Indoors: hard floors or artificial grass
Outdoors: grass or hard standing, with the mats underneath
Not suitable: concrete, a grass-and-hard-standing mix, or wood chip

What we are really booking against is a flat 15ft square with 6ft of headroom. If you are not sure whether your venue's floor fits that, send the details with your enquiry and we will confirm before you commit.

What It Needs

  • A flat area around 15ft x 15ft with 6ft of clear height, mats down
  • No power socket anywhere near it - there is nothing to plug in
  • Adults only; the set is not sized for children
  • A responsible adult (18+) supervising throughout, or a trained attendant from us to run the bouts for you

Sumo Suit Hire Questions

Does the sumo ring need power?

No. Nothing on the set plugs in - no blower, no cable and no generator to plan for - which makes it one of the few crowd-pullers we can put in the middle of a hall floor without asking the venue for a single socket.

Is it adults only?

Yes, this set is sized for adults and is not suitable for children. Supervision is a responsible adult (18+) throughout, or a trained attendant from us to run the bouts if that is easier for you.

How much space does it need?

A flat 15ft x 15ft area with 6ft of headroom. It works indoors on hard floors or artificial grass and outdoors on grass or hard standing with the mats underneath. It does not go on bare concrete, a grass-and-hard-standing mix, or wood chip.

Can we brand the suits for our stand?

Yes. Artwork goes on a branded back panel, on 12 branded buttons, or on both, and our in-house team prints and fits it for your dates. The prices are in the exhibition section above, and we can price the branding into the same quote as the hire.

Pairs Well With

The suits sit in the same corner of the kit list as the games below - big enough to spot from across a hall and simple enough to explain in a sentence. The zorbs with inflatable surround are the other one we reach for when a client wants a spectacle with people visible inside it, and the rest of them suit a multi-game field or a feature area. Tell us the shape of the day and we will suggest a combination that fits the space and the budget.

Hire the Sumo Suits

Send the dates, the venue and what the floor is made of, along with a rough idea of the clear space you have. We will confirm the 15ft square fits, price any branding into the same quote, and add the £25 overnight option if you want the kit to stay put between days.
